Classic Claddagh Pendants Available Online

We have just added the newest collection of Classic Irish Claddagh pendants to our online store. We have a couple of designs to choose from, all handmade in Dublin, Ireland. Some are Sterling Silver and others are adorned with 10kt Gold.

-----

The Claddagh is a traditional Irish symbol which represents love, loyalty, and friendship - the hands represent friendship, the heart represents love, and the crown represents loyalty.

The design and customs associated with it originated in the Irish fishing village of the same name in Galway, Ireland. The ring, as currently known, was first produced in the 17th century.

Irish Designer Jewellery by Designer Elena Brennan

We are really delighted to say that the beautiful work by Elena Brennan, from Co. Cavan is now available at the store.

Elena is an extremely talented jewellery designer working mostly in sterling silver. She is from our home county and we meet many years ago while showcasing our work at a local event. She uses stories and fables from Irish history and folklore as inspiration for her creations. One of her most famous collections is inspired by the "Children of Lir". This is a very old fable in which four children were banished by their stepmom to spend 900 years as swans on three different lakes. Her pendants shown in the images are inspired by this story. The capture the delicate nature of the swans wings.

The "Baby Angel Feather" also shown in the images is a reminder that our angels are all around us. When they are watching over us, sometimes they let us know that they are there by leaving little white feathers for us to find in places where there should be no feathers. This is one of those feathers...

Irish Claddagh Rings - A Traditional Irish Ring

Birthstone Claddagh Ring

Did you know that here in Irish Design House we stock a range of Claddagh Rings? We have both the Irish Celtic Claddagh Ring and The Birthstone Claddagh Ring. We have a range of sizes in store and on our our website. If we don't have your size/birthstone in stock, don't worry, we will gladly order them for you!

The Claddagh Ring is a traditional Irish ring. It represents love, loyalty, and friendship (the hands represent friendship, the heart represents love, and the crown represents loyalty). This makes it a beautiful and sentimental gift, either a gift for your friend or as a Valentine's Day gift!

As traditions go.. a Claddagh ring was worn with the intention of conveying the wearer's relationship status:

  1. On the right hand with the point of the heart toward the fingertips: the wearer is single and may be looking for love.
  2. On the right hand with the point of the heart toward the wrist: the wearer is in a relationship.
  3. On the left hand with the point of the heart toward the fingertips: the wearer is engaged.
  4. On the left hand with the point of the heart toward the wrist: the wearer is married.

Have a look online or pop into our store to see these for yourself!
